SALESIAN SAINTS
Portraits of saints and blesseds created between 1991 and 1994.
The Salesians (Society of St. Francis de Sales) are a religious congregation without habits founded by St. John Bosco in Turin in 1859.
Their main goal is the evangelization and education of young people by running oratories (after-school clubs), schools, reformatories, and by pastoral and missionary work.
Saint Francis de Sales
St Francis de Sales was born in the Castle de Sales (in the French Haute-Savoie) on 21 August 1567.
He was beatified on 1661, and canonised by Alexander VII in 1665. Pius IX proclaimed him Doctor of the Church on 7 July 1877 and he was appointed patron of journalists and Catholic writers on 26 January 1923 by Pius XI.
John Bosco was 16 August 1815 and he was baptised on the following day as John Melchior.
He died at the Valdocco Oratory in Turin on 31 January 1888 and the head of government, Francis Crispi, authorised his funeral at the Salesian boarding school outside Turin at Valsalice.

Saint Aloysius Versiglia
Aloysius Versiglia (but more often known as Luigi) was born in Oliva Gessi in the province of Pavia on 5 June 1873.
He died 25 February 1930 Shiu-Chow.

Saint Callisto Caravario
Callistus Caravario was born at Cuorgné in Canavese on 8 June 1903.
He died 25 February 1930 Shiu-Chow.

St. Mary Domenica Mazzarello
Mary Domenica Mazzarello was born in Mornese in the Alto Monferrato on 9 May 1837.
Mary Mazzarello died at Nizza Monferrato on 14 May 1881.

Saint Dominic Savio
Dominic Savio was born in San Giovanni, a hamlet of Riva presso Chieri (Turin), on 2 April 1842.
Dominic died in Mondonio on March 9, 1857 at the age of 15.

Laura Carmen Vicuña was born in Santiago, in Chile, on 5 April 1891
Laura died on the evening of January 22, 1904 at the age of 15.

Maddalena Caterina Morano was born in Chieri, in the province of Turin, on 15 November 1847.
Suffering from a tumour, Sr Morano died at Catania on the 26th March 1908.

Born in Lu Monferrato (Alessandria) on 28 May 1856,
He died serenely on 5 December 1931

The paintings of Salesian Saints and Blesseds were created by Sergiusz Buczacki between 1991 and 1994 for his own traveling exhibitions.
The paintings were most recently exhibited at the Wrocław Archdiocesan Museum in 2003.
The
entire collection (10 paintings, oil on strong canvas) is offered for
sale with the
transfer of copyright (reproduction, printing, etc.) to the buyer.
The price
for the collection is 9,000 euros or the equivalent in
Polish złoty. The painting weighs approximately 1.5 kg and measures
80 x 60 cm.
Frames are
available for purchase with mounting options.
The frames
are made of solid oak, measure 93 x 72.5 x 5.5 cm, and the
painting weighs approximately 5 kg with the frame.
The price for each frame is 450 euros or the equivalent in Polish złoty.
